Screening Tool - Camouflaging
CAT-Q
Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire
A 25-statement self-report tool measuring social camouflaging behaviours in adults. It assesses strategies across three domains: compensation, masking, and assimilation. Developed by Hull et al. (2018) and validated internationally.
Important: This is a screening tool, not a diagnostic instrument. A total score of 100 or above suggests significant camouflaging behaviours. High scores can also occur in non-autistic people with social anxiety. Answer based on your typical experience in social situations. Please consult a qualified professional for diagnosis.

Reminder: This is a screening tool only. It does not provide a diagnosis. Camouflaging behaviours are common in autistic people but can also occur with social anxiety or other conditions. If your score suggests significant camouflaging, consider speaking with a specialist who understands autism and masking.
