Trainer training questions

Do Facilitator Trainers require any prior experience?
Yes - prior experience is required. It will be the Facilitator's role to support their co-trainers with a learning disability and autism on the day, so subject matter expertise is essential. Please read the Delivery Model to find out more.
Do co-trainers with lived experience need any prior experience or qualifications?
No formal qualifications are required, but co-trainers do need to be able to deliver training. They need to be confident standing in front of an audience and sharing their lived experience - the role is quite involved. Co-trainers must be able to engage a room and communicate their experience clearly and confidently.
What is the difference between a Facilitator and a Co-trainer?
A Facilitator is responsible for supporting the co-trainers with lived experience on the day. They handle all the admin, the tech, and the delivery - they are the subject matter expert. A Facilitator can have lived experience themselves, but their role is a professional one. Co-trainers are Experts by Experience - their role is to share their lived experience of autism or learning disability. These are two completely different roles.
Can trained Facilitators deliver Tier 1 as well as Tier 2?
No - Tier 1 and Tier 2 have separate trainer pathways. Tier 1 is delivered by trios (a facilitator and two Experts by Experience) who are certified through the Tier 1 Trio Training. Tier 2 Facilitators are certified separately through the two-day Facilitator Training course. If your organisation wants to deliver both tiers in-house, you will need to train for both pathways.
