About This Session

This session explores why physical behaviours occur in autistic and ADHD individuals. It explores executive functioning, emotional processing and unmet proprioceptive need and how these things can often result in more snap emotions, physical behaviours, explosive meltdowns, and harm to oneself and the environment.

  • Understand physical behaviour as a sign of communication and unmet needs.
  • Recognise the emotional, cognitive, and sensory drivers behind physical behaviours.
  • Learn from lived experience from adults who had a high degree of physical behaviours and what strategies they use in adulthood.
  • Understand how the environment influences behaviour.
  • Learn practical strategies to support learning, reduce distress, and reduce physical behaviours over time.
